The Slovenia Times

Italian Cinema Week

May 9 - May 12

Seven mostly recent Italian films will be screened at the Slovenian Cinematheque as part of the Italian Cinema Week, organised for the seventh year in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Ljubljana.

The previous editions provided a detailed introduction to Italian cinema since the beginning of the new millennium, starting with a focus on auteur cinema.

This year's programme brings productions made in recent years that have enjoyed widespread international success as well as the 1956 classic Il ferroviere (The Railroad Man).

The series will open with the screening of A Brighter Tomorrow (Il sol dell'avvenire), a 2023 Italian-French comedy-drama co-written and directed by Nanni Moretti.

The other films to be shown are Matteo Garrone's Io capitano, Ginevra Elkann's Te l'avevo detto, Il colibrì by Francesca Archibugi, Stranizza d'amuri by Giuseppe Fiorello and La chimera by Alice Rohrwacher.
