Be it for its seascapes, nature, a wealth of outdoor activity opportunities or authenticity of its people, foreigners who have adopted Slovenian Istria as their new home say it is well worth visiting.

Tourism organisations from the Slovenian coastal region have invited eight foreigners who have moved to Istria to tell their compatriots back home in their language what they find worth visiting.

In the stories they share in clips available on the website Love Istria, they unlock the secrets of local life to let potential visitors feel the pulse of this corner of the world and discover what makes life there truly special.

Austrian fairytale writer Folke Tegetthoff and his wife Astrid, who have lived in Piran for more than 16 years, appreciate "the unique diversity of nature and the authenticity of the local people".

Bojana Klepac moved here from Serbia for studies but she fell in love with the region and decided to stay and now lives in the countryside near Koper. One of several reasons why she loves the region are breathtaking views and the many outdoor activity opportunities.

Federica Minghelli, who relocated from Ravenna for love, adores the Istrian landscape, "where hills meet the sea, and lush Mediterranean nature invokes a unique sense of peace within her".

Anna Kožuh also left behind the Polish city of Krakow for love, a choice she says was not a difficult one to make because she adores the Mediterranean climate.

Jana and Uwe moved to Portorož from Berlin. They enjoy the sea, hills, wine and olive trees, which they say makes Slovenian Istria a paradise on earth.
