Ljubljana will come together for the 66th Walk along the Wire, a three-day event in memory of the barbed wire that kept the city under the lockout during the Second World War.

The hugely popular festival will start on 9 May as a kids from Ljubljana's kindergartens walk short sections of the 35-kilometre gravel path around the city. School students walk the path the next day.

The event will culminate on Saturday, 11 May with a hike along the whole or sections of the wire, and a run of three member teams at distances of 12.5 km and 29 km.
