Žbogar to Become EU Ambassador to Kosovo

Politics,  21 Dec 2011  / By STA

The EU's high representative for foreign and security policy Catherine Ashton confirmed in Brussels that outgoing Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar will become the EU ambassador to Kosovo. The appointment will be confirmed once all formalities are carried out.

Zbogar is to perform two tasks in Kosovo, as he is to head the EU office there and also serve as the special representative of the EU.

Zbogar's appointment, which has to be confirmed by the EU Council, would get Slovenia its first high-raking official in the European External Action Service.

Zbogar confirmed he was running for the seat at the end of November. He said at the time that he could greatly contribute to the EU's activities in the country with his experience in diplomacy and politics.
