Team Victory in Oberstdorf

Sports,  20 Feb 2012  / By STA

Three long jumps from its competitors brought Slovenia victory in the men's World Cup team ski flying event in Oberstdorf.

The Slovenian team had jumps of 225.5 metres from Peter Prevc, 218 metres from Jurij Tepeš and 209.5 metres from Robi Kranjec in addition to Jure Šinkovec's effort of 189.5 metres in the first round for a combined score of 732.5 points.

The second round was subsequently cancelled due to heavy snow, giving Slovenia the win ahead of Austria (+0.7 points) and Norway (+16.6 points).

The victory was dampened somewhat by a suspected shoulder injury to Prevc, who fell hard during his landing.
