France Prešeren is one of the most important figures in Slovenian culture and perhaps the finest Slovenian poet to have ever lived. On the anniversary of his death (8 February), Slovenia commemorates the poet with events dedicated to culture. Over the first week of February, Ljubljana will host a series of open-air concerts by singing choirs and vocal groups. The latter will perform at locations where Prešeren lived, spent his time and met people.
