"Today's match was very hard. Dominguez kept changing rhythm throughout, from powerful and long spin forehands to low slice backhands. My game was solid, aggressive, which paid in the end," Srebotnik said after the match. "I gave my best, all heart, while I also kept calm in the key moments, just like the world's best world players do," Srebotnik noted proudly.
In the second round, the Slovenian favourite will be facing Anastasia Rodionova, the 79th seeded Russian who plays for Australia. Rodionova defeated Germany's Angelika Bachmann today (7:6 (3) and 6:4). Srebotnik has played against Rodionova twice, beating her both times. Last year the two faced at the French Open, Katarina winning 6:1 and 6:3, while this year Rodionova retired in Auckland at 6:0 and 3:0 for Srebotnik.
